A Truth
Looking up at the night sky
Staring into black
A giant dome of darkness
With tiny sparkling cracks
What lies on the other side?
I squint through the holes but see only light
Is that where they say you go when you die
To a bright light?
A pure sight of piercing white?
Looking out on the ocean
Staring into blue
Thinking, "Waves are just like faces”
”A world beneath the view"
What lies on the other side?
Dreams and memories reside
Chemicals sway like the tide
A fluid motion
Like an ocean of emotion
Walking over pavement
Staring down at gray
Wondering if the cavemen
Ever thought it'd look this way
What lies on the other side?
This gray mask, what does it hide?
Is there a beauty that we've nullified
Because we've forgotten what it once was?
That it once was?
And the story goes
It goes on and on and on
I believe in a truth
I believe in a truth too big to see
Look in any direction
And you're staring at infinity
From an airplane window
Looking out on the world
A canvas for some creator
Or maybe some paint spilled
That's how it all begins
In perfect harmony or in dissonance
Either way it makes no difference
’Cause we all pretend
There's no meaning
Well, there's meaning
And the universe
It goes on and on and on and on
I believe in a truth
I believe in a truth too big to see
Look in any direction
And you're staring at infinity
This moment here right now
It's real, it's you and me
I believe in a truth
I believe in a truth too big to see
"A Truth" is a self-exploration of the sensations in which we experience our world. In awe of nature and the profoundness of the universe, we wonder how it all works and what it means. We may never know the answers to these questions but we can certainly ask them.
